About me

migMy name is Tobias Bucher. I am 27 years old and presently live in the countryside of North Sealand, Denmark.
As far back as I can remember all I ever played throughout my childhood has been about hunting, fishing and living in and off the wild. Except for a short period where I dreamt of being a pirate, my plans were to live like an Indian, a trapper or something of that kind. I always spent a lot of time in the woods or out camping and I’ve always had a deep fascination of the worlds “primitive” peoples, and the technologies and wilderness living skills of the pre agricultural world.

I finished my apprenticeship as a joiner in 2009 and have been self-employed in my own small company. I’ve been fortunate to work with many interesting things within the different wood crafts, and wood is a material I really like working.
September 2013 I began a 10 month outdoors guide education at the Paul Petersen Institute of sports in Copenhagen. This is a compact collection of courses with the main focus on guiding and teaching, with the outdoors as setting and wilderness skills and activities like canoeing, kayaking and skiing as the means.

The paths I’ve so far chosen for my professional life haven’t all exactly brought me any closer to my childhood dreams. Sadly, over the last years I’ve given the many responsibilities and expectations from my surroundings that come with adulthood, too much attention. Nevertheless, those dreams and naive fantasies are still very alive in me. And who knows… maybe someday I’ll get there.

Welcome

This blog is about my deep fascination with nature and wilderness living. The technologies, skills and crafts of “primitive peoples”, and the pre agricultural world. This won’t be without modern materials, but is for sharing my experiences/adventures with the full extent of my feet placed solidly and responsibly in the natural world.
